People often ask me about my photographic subjects. How I know what to photograph and from what angle. Just how did I get the best shot of this or that? And the answer is always the same.
"I look at things through my eyes. When it looks right to me, then I take the shot."
I know that sounds like I am just avoiding the question, but it's true. My eyes tell me what I perceive to be the most pleasing capture for myself. If others agree, then all the better.
Photography has always been something I did for myself. It is how I express how I was feeling at the moment I pressed the shutter button. Something stimulates me visually and I have a need to capture it, so I can go back later and recreate that same feeling.
So what is a good Photograph? All photographs are good, some happen to stand out more than others. If your photo doesn't turn out the way you envisioned, you learn from it and grow.
In today's world of digital imagery, taking photos is amazingly easy. You don't need tons of expensive equipment. Pick up your camera and just point and shoot at what inspires you. Once you get the feel of the camera, then start playing around with the settings, play with exposure, and f stop settings. Once you see how the effect your end result, have fun with them. It's not rocket science, go out and take photos of anything, learn from your mistakes, but most of all, HAVE FUN!
